Outer Banks has returned to Netflix with a fourth season, and the hugely popular drama has already been watched 24 million times.
The North Carolina-set show topped Netflix’s most watched chart after just three days on the platform, racking up an impressive 15.5 million views.
And now, the fourth installment has spent a second week at number one, with another 8.8 million views.
That totals up to 24 million views and a huge 97.5 million hours of viewing time.
Season four continues the quest Outer Banks fans have become familiar with, as John B and his friends, known as the Pogues, continue to look for his father’s missing treasure – except now there are new challenges along the way.
The season has been split into two parts, with fans flocking to binge-watch the first five episodes before the remaining five drop on November 7.
And its not just Netflix subscribers who are loving Outer Banks season four. The critics have showered the show with praise too, awarding it an impressive 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Writing for Decider, Liz Kocan said: ‘Outer Banks season four is charging ahead with a solid new adventure while leaning into the cast of characters these actors have honed and developed over the past four years.’
Meanwhile, Screen Rant critic Felipe Rangel wrote: ‘Outer Banks season 4 – Part 1 continues what the series does best, using the chemistry between the Pogues to deliver another thrilling treasure hunt.’
And fans of the show have been enjoying revisiting previous seasons too, with the first installment of Outer Banks also appearing on Netflix’s most-watched list last week – at number eight on the chart – with 2.2 million views.
Elsewhere on Netflix, another returning series made second place on the global watch list.
Season three of The Lincoln Lawyer, which has been hailed by some fans as ‘Netflix’s best-ever show’, racked up a massive seven million views in its first three days on the platform – and it could sneak into the top spot next week.
Further down the list, hugely popular rom com Nobody Wants This and true crime drama Monsters are enjoying their third and fourth week on Netflix’s most-watched list respectively.
The ‘highly bingeable’ Nobody Wants This has captivated viewers with the blossoming romance between a sex podcaster and a newly single rabbi, while Monsters has caused controversy – after the family of convicted murderers Eric and Lyle Menendez slammed the show.
Shortly after the Netflix series was released, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced that his office was ‘reviewing’ new evidence for the case, which saw the brothers imprisoned for murdering their parents.
